Navagraha stotram - Shri Vedavyasa

japA-kusuma-saMkAshaM kAshyapeyaM mahA-dyutim .
tamo.ariM sarva-pApaghnaM praNato.asmi divAkaram .. 1..

##I bow and pray to the Surya(Sun), who shines like the japA(a kind of rose) flower, the descendent of Kashyapa, possessor of great brightness, the enemy(remover) of darkness, destroyer(remover) of all sins, the maker of the days. ##

dadhi-shaN^kha-tuShArAbhaM kShIrodArNava-saMbhavam \(kShIrArNava-samudbhavam\).
namAmi shashinaM somaM shambhormukuTa-bhUShaNam .. 2..

##I bow and pray to the Chandra(Moon), who has soothing brightness like the curds, conch and dew drops, who was born from the milk ocean during its churning, soft one who nourishes soma creeper, used to make soma-rasa, who is marked by the hare-symbol, who adorns  Shiva's hair like a crown. ##

dharaNI-garbha-saMbhUtaM vidyut-kAnti-sama-prabham .
kumAraM shakti-hastaM taM maN^galaM praNamAmyaham .. 3..

##I bow and pray to Mangala(Mars), born to the Goddess of Earth, who shines as bright as the lightning, the young man who carries a spear . ##

priyaN^gu-kalikA-shyAmaM rUpeNApratimaM budham .
saumyaM saumya-guNopetaM taM budhaM praNamAmyaham .. 4..

##I bow and pray to Budha(Mercury), dark like the bud of one kind of fragrant grain, having peerless beauty, son of Chandra and gentle natured. ##

devAnAM cha R^iShINAM cha guruM kAJNchana-saMnibham .
buddhi-bhUtaM trilokeshaM taM namAmi bR^ihaspatim .. 5..

##I bow and pray to Brihaspati(Jupiter), the teacher of gods and Rishis, having golden complexion, intellect-personified and lord of the three worlds . ##

hema-kunda-mR^iNAlAbhaM daityAnAM paramaM gurum .
sarva-shAstra-pravaktAraM bhArgavaM praNamAmyaham .. 6..

##I bow and pray to Shukra(Venus), the supreme preceptor of demons, expounder of all the scriptures, who is resplendent like the stalk of a golden jasmine. ##

nIlAMjana-samAbhAsaM ravi-putraM yamAgrajam .
ChAyA-mArtaNDa-saMbhUtaM taM namAmi shanaishcharam .. 7..

##I bow and pray to Shani(Saturn), who shines like the black collyrium, who is the son of Sun, who is the elder brother of Yama, who was born to Chaya and Surya, and who moves slowly and gradulaly. ##

ardha-kAyaM mahA-vIraM chandrAditya-vimardanam .
siMhikA-garbha-saMbhUtaM taM rAhuM praNamAmyaham .. 8..

##I bow and pray to Rahu, having half body, with great valor, causing eclipse to the Moon and the Sun, born of SimhikA. ##

palAsha-puShpa-saMkAshaM tArakA-graha-mastakam .
raudraM raudrAtmakaM ghoraM taM ketuM praNamAmyaham .. 9..

##I bow and pray to Ketu, who shines like the flower Palasha(Flame of the forest), who is special leader among the stars and planets, who is fierce and terrifying. ##

iti vyAsa-mukhodgItaM yaH paThet susamAhitaH .
divA vA yadi vA rAtrau vighna\(gR^iha\)-shAntirbhaviShyati .. 10..

##Those who recites this stotra, that emanated as a song from Sri VedaVyAsa, with concentration be during the day or in the night, will be free from obstacles and joy and peace will be in the house at all times. ##

nara-nArI-nR^ipANAM cha bhaved-dussvapna-nAshanam .
aishvaryamatulaM teShAm ArogyaM puShTi-vardhanam ..

##This stotra prevents the occurrence of bad dreams for men, women and kings as well and grants them wealth, health, and growth and enhances nourishment. ##

graha-nakShatrajAH pIDAH taskarAgni-samudbhavAH .
tAH sarvAH prashamaM yAnti vyAso brUte na saMshayaH ..

##All the hardships and devastation that are caused by the thieves, and fire, and the position of planets and stars are nullified and let there be no doubts as Sri Vedavyasa assures this. ##
