By : Shri Kesava Rao Tadipatri

Rangoli by Smt.Padmini Rao, Coimbatore

 I will make a humble attempt to do a simple translation of the "vyAsarAjastotraM" composed by Sri Vijayindra tiirtha, who was the greatest disciple and the greatest admirer of Sri Vyasatiirtha.

The verses are available in Devanagari in the link below:
Vyasaraja Stotram

May Sri Vyasatiirtha, who, like a bee, extracts the nectar from the thoughts of Sri Anandatiirtha, lead me to Lord Mukunda, who is worshipped by lotus-born Brahma and other gods. May he guide me to the Lord, who is omniscient and who is praised by all the gods. May he bless me with the grace of the dark blue colored Lord, as the devotees flock to Him like bees. I bow to him.

Sri Vyasatiirtha is constantly attached to the feet of Lord Hari and purifies the minds of the devotees. The experts constantly use his good words. He is a renouncer of worldly attachments and joys. In his mukti (naija sukhAnubhUti), he always revels in the company of the Lord.

Sri Vyasatiirtha is attracted to the lotus feet of Lord of Laxmi like a bee. His speech is always guided by Sri Ananda tiirtha (dasha symbolizing all, dashapraj~na means one with all sacred and valid knowledge). He destroys with roots the advaita theory. He is the best of performers of great vratas. He is detached to worldly bonds.

He is a magnanimous personality, who is constantly supportive of the good people. He burns the sins of the devotees just like the fire burns the bales of cotton. His voice is adept in annihilating the flagitiousness of the bullies. The multitudes of the disciples desire for him (his grace) as he is like "kAmadhenu" for them.

advaitadAvAnalakAlameghaH  ramAramasnehavidAritAghaH  |
vAgvaikharInirjitasamshayaughaH  mAyAmatavrAtahime nidAghaH  || 5||

He extinguishes the wild fire of advaita like a dark cloud (with its rain). He destroys the sins with constant devotion to the Lord of Laxmi.  He defeats the clusters of doubts with the skillful words. He burns the snow of coteries of illusionists like heat/fire.

Sri Vyasatiirtha is like the full moon to the ocean of milk of Sri Madhva siddhAnta (Just as waves rise with the appearance of the moon, the glory of this philosophy spreads with the
incarnation of Sri Vyasatiirtha) enhancing its glory. May this king of yatis fulfill my desires.

Note : Mentioning the Lord Narasimha is quite appropriate, as tradition has that Sri Vyasaraja is the incarnation of Prahlada.

Sri Vyasaraja composed tarkatANDava, nyAyAmR^ita and tAtparya chandrikA known as vyAsatraya; they are powerful and expound Sri Madhva shAstra; they are rock-solid and highly estimable like a thunderbolt; they protect the followers; they are unsurpassable by others (or invincible to the enemies); they offer great joy to those who are attracted to the lotus feet of Sri Vyasaraja. May such vyAsamunIshvara make my three kinds of misery quiescent.
