Bhagavan Sri Hari is always worshipped along with His parivaara devatas. In fact, Sri Hari Himself stays in these devatas and gives them the capacity to do their respective jobs by hand holding them all the time [ "mukhe-mukham" ityadi kramena ]!

These devatas pervade every atom of space inside this Brahmanda [and outside as per their adhikara]. Thus they are present inside our deha too to give respective energy/praana shakti and instigation to do all our actions. Their  role and significance has been explained in the shatprashna upanishad. With this mental frame, first thing in the morning one should show our gratitude to them and the indwelling Bhagavan for bringing us back from deep sleep and also seek their help in doing right action using the God given indriyas.

Symbolically, we show this by folded palms consisting of 10 fingers representing the 10 directions.

To correctly worship these dik-palakas with gratitude, we have to know who they are and their attributes so that our mind can focus on their indweller Narayana.

Acharya Madhva the loka-paalakas in Tantra Saara Sangraha as well as Mahabharata Tatparya Nirnaya. Also, the commentaries quote works like Sharadha Tilaka wrt to color, dharma-patni, abhaya mudra and ayudha etc. I have majorly referred to Sri Bannanje Govindacharya’s comm and footnotes for clarity.

Acharya Madhva has very crisply given their color as:

"pita-rakta-asita-shveta-rakta-shukla"

[Here Sri Bannanje Govindacharya clarifies that Indra’s color should be “neela” as the very blue stone is named as “Indra Neela Mani” and opines that there could be entry error in the printed TSS books]

and the ayudhas as:

"sapriyAH sAbhaya vajra-shakti-danDa-asi-pAshinaH
gadA-kumuda-shUleshhTi-khaDgino bhushhaNojvalAH"

Same concepts are very clearly explained in Sri Harikathamruta Saara. Added to that, as the very name suggests, the work is all about Sva-Bimbarupa-dhyaana which is mandatory for every bhakta who aspires moxa and perhaps keeping this in view the hrutkamala dik-paalakas are mentioned in Sri HarikathamrutaSaara. This perhaps explains the slight variation when it comes to the manifested antaryami Bhagavat Rupas and ayudhas in the external dikpalakas [vishvarupa] vs Hrutkamala dikpalakas [bimbarupa].
